At just ten years old, Pierre François Lubin was apprenticed to the celebrated master perfumer Jean-Louis Fargeon. The young apprentice was once sent to deliver rose perfumes to Queen Marie-Antoinette while she was under house arrest at the start of the French Revolution.
In Grasse, Lubin became acquainted with the Italian methods. His creations were much admired by the first dandies, better known as Les Incroyables. Lubin became an official supplier to George IV, King of England, and to Tsar Alexander I of Russia.
Even today, many of these refined, timeless perfumes are based on age-old recipes and remain much loved by true connoisseurs.
