Love at first sight

Last March, on a rainy morning in Paris, Babassu founder Heidi and boutique manager Denise were smitten on the spot. Visiting the Maison&Objet fair, they discovered Bienamé and there was an instant connection. Bienaimé’s bottles are a tribute to French art deco craftsmanship and are made by hand in a factory in Normandy. Each bottle is unique, with a refined design that looks beautiful in any room.

Powdery

Heidi’s favourite, Vermeil, takes you into a world of boudoirs where the creamy scents of powders and lipsticks mingle. This powdery perfume is an ode to the timeless woman, enchanting you with its accord of iris and violet, lifted by rose, the symbol of love and femininity. Heidi adds a light layer of Molecule 01 by Escentric Molecules over the top, giving the perfume a little more strength.

25 years of love

Heidi has been with the love of her life, Raoul, for 25 years. She met Raoul three months after founding Babassu. Together they have now run Babassu for a quarter of a century, and this spring they will celebrate 25 years of the beauty salon and boutique in style. We will of course keep you posted!

A favourite men’s fragrance

Heidi’s favourite men’s fragrance is Monocule Scent One Hinoki by Comme des Garçons. The inspiration for this scent comes from a traditional Japanese bath made from hinoki wood. Hinoki is a woody scent with a green character. The model Barnabe Fillion described its magic like this: “Hinoki reminds me of Japanese temples, where a very particular, subtle incense is also burned. It has the perfect balance between dry and damp wood. It is spiritual and calming, and you smell it the whole time, even when you are wearing it yourself.”

The latest creation from Miller Harris

A gourmand scent with sweet notes such as chocolate or toffee, the kind that makes your mouth water, is perfect to give your loved one on Valentine’s Day. Fruity notes are often used to bring a little freshness to a gourmand, while flowers lend softness and sensuality. New to the Babassu range is Myrica Muse by Miller Harris, a fruity, floral musk. Created by Emilie Bouge, it combines fragrant red fruits such as the yang mei berry (Myrica) and strawberry with tender rose, jasmine and patchouli. Notes of pink pepper, sandalwood and rum give the composition a nuanced, alluring finish.
