The dizzying experience of Africa’s varied flora and fauna was the inspiration for Memo’s newest creation. African Leather brings to life the vast sand dunes, deserts, savannahs and impenetrable jungle. The endless variety of colours, scents and textures, from sunrise to dusk, deepens the feeling of this unforgettable journey through Africa.

As light-footed as a gazelle
Lush spices lie at the heart of African Leather’s identity. Along the path of this safari, accords of leather and oud unfold, with animalic accents as subtle as a leopard’s coat and as nuanced as a lion’s mane. The liveliness of geranium and the character of vetiver lend it a relaxed undertone. Though African Leather has a strength to rival a hunting panther, it remains as light-footed as a gazelle.

A blend of strength and energy
Perfumer Aliénor Massenet: “My starting point for African Leather was the highly expressive combination of patchouli and vetiver. We reworked those two elements at a molecular level until a new scent emerged, one that departs from classic patchouli. We also drew on modern musks. Spices give the fragrance its warmth. Above all, Africa is rich in contrasts, and that is what I wanted to bring out in this creation. African Leather is an explosive blend of strength and energy.”
