For centuries, the carnation has shared a special bond with clove. According to tradition, it was Italian merchants who first discovered the striking aromatic kinship between the two. Marco Polo is even said to have given the flower its name, inspired by its resemblance to the precious spices he brought back from the East.

Yet the carnation reveals a second, surprising facet. Behind its spicy character lies a soft, almost creamy touch reminiscent of vanilla. It is a subtle meeting of nature and science: eugenol, the aromatic compound that gives both carnation and clove their distinctive character, also forms the basis for the warm, vanilla-like nuances that emerge in this composition.
