With more than 40,000 varieties, the rose is without doubt the most studied flower in the history of perfumery. A fascinating universe of nuance, one that perfumers have continued to explore for generations. Jean-Claude Ellena looks back to the historic hybrid tea rose ‘La France’ of 1867, which gave the rose a new olfactory signature. The subtle tea-like facets still perceptible in certain roses today trace their origin to this historic cross. Behind this refined aroma lies ionone, a molecule known not only for its violet-like character but also for the important part it plays in the recognisable impression of tea.

In this composition the rose appears fresh and light, with a subtle tea-like nuance, supported by red berry, green leaf and white musk. The result is a modern rose: transparent, elegant and naturally radiant.
